Fabrics & swatches
Every Hamilton Classics mackintosh and cape is made from rubberised or rubber-lined fabric, and we work in six of them. A screen can tell you the colour but never the weight or the feel, so we post a sample set: £5 a set, first class.

The six fabrics we work in
| Fabric | What it is like | Care |
|---|---|---|
| Rubberised cotton | A single-texture rubberised cotton, the traditional mackintosh cloth. Matte, firm and fully waterproof. | Care guide |
| Polyester | Lighter and crisper than cotton, with a slight sheen. The red and navy coats are usually polyester. | Care guide |
| Nylon-silk | Soft, fluid and glossy. It hangs close to the body and swishes as you walk. | Care guide |
| Satin | The glossiest of the six. Used for the silver and coloured satin capes. | Care guide |
| Crepe de chine | A fine, slightly crinkled cloth with a dull sheen. Rubber-lined, it makes a soft, quiet coat. | Care guide |
| Surface rubber | A high-gloss rubber surface over cloth, for the shiny black coats. | Care guide |
The colours and weights we hold change through the year. The sample set shows you what is in stock when you order, so you can choose with the cloth in your hand.
